Team
At 999 Geen Dienst Studio, we are more than a team. We are a family. We care for one another, support one another, and grow together. Many of our team members started as young talents who found a place at 999 Geen Dienst Studio to learn, develop, and discover what they could become. Over the years, those individual talents have grown into something much bigger: a team in which everyone brings something different and completes something in the others. For us, it is never only about how good we are as individuals. What matters most is not how amazing we are as individuals, but how amazing we can be together as a team. That is the 999 Geen Dienst Studio family.
Tommy Sherif
Founder & Artistic Director
Tommy Sherif is the founder and artistic director of 999 Geen Dienst Studio. A writer, director and storyteller, he founded the studio in 2019 with the belief that art can bring people together, give space to unheard voices and turn different backgrounds into creative strength. His work moves between film, theatre, storytelling and music, but at the heart of it is always the same idea: art is a message. Within 999 Geen Dienst Studio, Tommy is not only focused on creating his own work, but also on discovering young talent, helping artists develop and building a creative family where people can grow together. For him, the strength of 999 Geen Dienst Studio has never been one person. It is the people who create it together.
Louisa van der Meij
Co-Founder & Official Photographer
Louisa van der Meij has been part of 999 Geen Dienst Studio since the very beginning. As the first member of the team, she stood beside the studio from its first day and is considered a co-founder of the 999 Geen Dienst Studio family. As the studio’s official photographer, Louisa has captured its artists, productions and stories through her own visual perspective, while her creativity extends far beyond photography. She is also a writer and art director, contributing to the ideas and visual identity behind many of the studio’s projects. More than a member of the team, Louisa is part of the foundation on which 999 Geen Dienst Studio was built.
Kathafi Hamadi
Director of Photography
Kathafi Hamadi began his journey with 999 Geen Dienst Studio as a cameraman on Taha. His talent, dedication and strong visual instinct quickly became impossible to overlook, and he went on to become Director of Photography for four of the studio’s films. Kathafi is more than a skilled cinematographer; he has an artistic eye and a deep understanding of how light, composition, movement and atmosphere can transform a story into images. He does not simply capture what is in front of the camera; he helps create the visual world of every film he works on. Over the years, Kathafi has grown into one of the most trusted and valued members of the 999 Geen Dienst Studio family, and an essential creative voice behind our films. We are proud of the filmmaker he has become, and even prouder that his journey began and continues with us.
Mohamed Okab
Assistant Director & Actor
Mohamed Okab joined 999 Geen Dienst Studio as a young talent and developed his skills through both theatre and film. Working as an actor as well as an assistant director has given him a valuable understanding of storytelling from both sides of the camera. Over the years, Mohamed has shown commitment, creativity and a growing ability to understand not only how a scene should be performed, but how it should be brought to life as a whole. At 999 Geen Dienst Studio, we believe strongly in his potential and see his work as an assistant director as the beginning of something much bigger. We believe Mohamed has the talent and vision to become one of the future directors of our films, and we are proud to be part of the journey that takes him there.
Yara Joujak
Actress
Yara Joujak joined the 999 Geen Dienst Studio family at only 17 years old, making her first appearance with us in the theatre production Off the Wall. Since then, she has grown alongside the studio, taking on a wide range of characters across our films and theatre productions and continuously developing her craft as an actress. Her journey reached an important milestone with her performance in Department 215, which earned her the Best Actress Award at the Kodaikanal Film Festival in India. For us, however, Yara's story is about much more than an award. We have watched a young talent grow into an accomplished actress capable of carrying challenging roles with confidence, emotion and presence. We are incredibly proud of everything she has achieved, and even more excited about the artist she is still becoming.
Adham Hasanin
Location Manager & Production Manager
Adham Hasanin has been part of the 999 Geen Dienst Studio story since 2021, making him one of the team members who has grown alongside the studio through some of its most important years. As Location Manager, his contribution goes far beyond finding and preparing the places where our stories come to life. Over the past five years, Adham has played a major role in the production of numerous films, theatre productions and events, bringing reliability, commitment and an understanding of what every production needs behind the scenes. His long journey with us has made him an important part of both our productions and the 999 Geen Dienst Studio family, and we are proud that so many of our stories have been built with his contribution.
Saleh Zakaria
Assistant Director
Saleh Zakaria is one of those people without whom a 999 Geen Dienst Studio set simply would not feel complete. A hardworking and dedicated Assistant Director, Saleh is always ready to help wherever he is needed, while making every new member of the team feel welcome from the moment they arrive. His energy, kindness and ever-present smile have made him a trusted and much-loved part of our locations. And there is one tradition that has become almost inseparable from Saleh: whenever he works on one of our films, somehow he has to appear in at least one scene. Behind the camera or briefly in front of it, Saleh brings something irreplaceable to every production. For us, a film set without Saleh simply isn't a 999 Geen Dienst Studio film set.
Mostafa Darwish
Composer & Music Producer
Mostafa Darwish, known as DerWish, brings his distinctive musical identity to the world of 999 Geen Dienst Studio. He has composed music for Taha, Department 215 and The Sense, and continues his journey with us through the music of I & They. Combining his classical background with electronic production and a strong instinct for emotion and storytelling, Mostafa creates music that becomes part of the identity of each film. His work with us has earned awards and nominations at international film festivals, but beyond the recognition, we are proud to have a composer whose music gives our stories another voice.
Tefa Sam
Film Editor
Tefa Sam has been part of 999 Geen Dienst Studio from its early years and has edited almost all of our films, becoming an essential part of our cinematic storytelling. His talent and dedication later took him beyond the studio, working with international companies in Egypt and Turkey. With a strong sense of rhythm, emotion and storytelling, Tefa knows how to find the heart of a film in the editing room. He is one of those team members whose work quietly shapes everything the audience eventually sees. Although he remains behind the scenes, his creative touch can be felt throughout our work. If you have watched our films, you have already seen Tefa’s work.
