999 Geen Dienst Studio
More arts to create
Our Story:
The story behind our organization is rooted in the dream of a refugee: Tommy Sherif, who arrived in the Netherlands in 2014 seeking asylum, a fresh start, and a new place to call home. Initially driven by the pursuit of safety and stability, Tommy's journey evolved to encompass his passion for art.
His journey began back in 2008 in Egypt, where he immersed himself in the study of theater and filmmaking, honing his skills and nurturing his creative spirit. In 2019, he took the bold step of founding our foundation, 999 Geen Dienst Studio, a name derived from a Dutch phrase meaning "999 no service studio," with a humorous anecdote behind its origin that is exclusively shared in Tommy's personal narratives.
What began as a dream over a decade ago finally found fruition in 2019, as the foundation took root in the Netherlands. Despite facing the challenges of a global pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, 999 Geen Dienst Studio made significant strides between 2019 and 2021. Yet, the journey continues, with even greater aspirations and accomplishments on the horizon.
Our Values:
Our values encapsulate simplicity, depth, and significance. At the core of our beliefs is the conviction that art serves as a conduit for meaningful messages, whether conveyed through theater, storytelling, film, documentaries, or any other artistic medium.
While we acknowledge and appreciate the value of art in entertainment, we are inclined towards infusing our creations with deeper layers of meaning. Despite this inclination, our work remains accessible, straightforward, and unpretentious. We strive to engage audiences by offering thought-provoking content, whether by shedding new light on existing concepts or introducing fresh ideas for contemplation.
Our commitment to producing diverse forms of art isn't driven by a desire to merely stand out; rather, it stems from our belief in the inherent power of art as a vessel for conveying messages. Each piece we create is crafted with the intention of being unique, yet always anchored in the principle that art is, fundamentally, a messenger.
Our Targets:
We have a lot of targets, dreams and wishes. However, Our organization is guided by three primary targets:
Building bridges: We aim to build bridges between different segments of society, fostering understanding, empathy, and cooperation among diverse groups.
Empower Emerging Artists: We are dedicated to nurturing and developing new talents, providing them with platforms and opportunities to showcase their artistic abilities and fulfill their potential.
Cultivate Inclusive Art: Our goal is to create art that transcends barriers and appeals to all segments of society, ensuring that our work reaches and resonates with diverse audiences, rather than catering to a specific demographic.
